Jensen family
Soren Holmgaard, whose family took the name Sorensen,
was born in Denmark.
We do not know his first name for certain,
but because of the common use of the father's first name
for a patrynomic, we assume his name was Soren.
Soren married Anna Christine Roland,
a woman of French descent.
Soren and Anna Christine had a number of children.
Jennie Petrina Sorensen, married a man named Sorensen (no relation),
several children
Johanna Marie Sorensen, married Jacob Jensen;
several children
Mary Sorensen, married Andrew Kelson, four children
Tena and Cora Sorensen, two girls, who perished on the ship to America
Tena Sorensen, named after her older sister, married Charles White;
one son Clarke White
Columbus Peter Sorensen, married Nella Hess, several children
Cora, married Bud Stafford, no children
Soren and Anna Christine migrated to America with their children.
On the ship, two daughters Tena and Cora died.
When they settled in America, they decided to name two of their later
daughters after the two girls who perished.
Many of their children settled in Minnesota.
