The Kerker family in the USA is descended from John Kerker and his wife, who migrated with several of their children from a small town near St Gall, in eastern Switzerland, in the late 1800s. They settled around St Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Kerkers were a bit unusual among immigrant families because they were not farmers, but city dwellers, some with university educations.
John Kerker had several children, including Joseph Thomas Kerker, a musician and civil clerk in St Paul.
