Marian Louise Kerker

Marian Louise Kerker was the fourth and youngest child of

She was born in January, 1918, in St Paul, Minnesota. Marian, or Mernie, as everyone knew her, attended Galtier Grade School, Derham High School, and the College of St Catherine. She married Albert Joseph Lauer, also from St Paul, in 1941, at St Columba Church in St Paul, just before Al went into the service in World War 2. Albert was the son of John Lauer, who owned a construction company, and Gertrude.

Mernie and Al had ten children.

Al Lauer is the founder and owner of Lauer Greenhouses, a company which builds aluminum greenhouses.

Mernie and Al lived for a while at 1250 Englewood Ave in St Paul, in a house formerly owned by Mernie's parents. They moved about 1951 to a farm in Mendota Heights, attending St Peter's Church in Mendota. In the mid 1960s, St Thomas Academy moved to a new campus adjacent to their farm.

The farm was taken later by the state to make way for Interstate 35E, and Mernie and Al bought another farm south of Rosemount, Minn. After a number of years, they also bought a winter home in Largo, Florida, near St Petersburg, where they escape the cold Minnesota winters.
