Robert Stanley Van Keuren was the second child of Harry Van Keuren and Mabel Rose Boucher. He was born in St Paul, Minnesota, on 9 Oct 1917, and died in 1976. He attended the University of Minnesota and was an architect. He was a professor of architecture at Syracuse University.

Robert married Glenna Beatrice Kerker in June, 1941, at St Columba Church in St Paul. They had three children:

Robert left his family in 1946 and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. He divorced Glenna in 1948. In Cincinnati, he met and married Jean Bochanek, who had a daughter Martha (Timmie) by a previous marriage. Robert and Jean had no children. They moved to Syracuse, New York, where he lived the rest of his life.

Robert had his own architecture business. For much of his life, it was a partnership. One of the partnerships was Moulton and Van Keuren; a later one was Witt and Van Keuren.

In the 1960s, Bob joined the faculty at Syracuse University, where he eventually became a full professor in the School of Architecture.

Bob was also active in the Civil Air Patrol, eventually becoming a major.

Robert was one of the architects for the buildings at the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, NY, altho unfortunately he never lived to see the Olympics. He died in June, 1976, one week before the wedding of his son Tom.
