Jacobus Van Keuren was the son of Captain Tjerck Matthysen Van Keuren and Maritje Ten Eyck. He was born on 17 May 1719 in Kingston, New York, and died 18 June 1803 in Shawangunk, NY.
Jacobus married twice, first on 16 May 1741 at the Kingston Dutch Reformed Church to Leah Houghtalling (Hoogtalling), who was baptized in Kingston on Dec. 20, 1719; she was the granddaughter of Margaret Roosevelt.

Jacobus married a second time on 11 Mar 1774 to Leah Roosa, who was baptized 12 Apr. 1747 in Kingston, the daughter of Abraham Roosa and Elizabeth Rutsen. They had one child:
Jacobus and his brother Benjamin bought two thousand acres of land in Shawangunk. They owned twenty slaves.
