Chapter 142
PRINTER - Set Up PC Printer Definitions

The PRINTER - Set Up PC Printer Definitions menu option allows you to define the print settings for multiple form types for your PC printers. This means that you can set up the font size, font, margins, etc. that work best on your printers for the various forms.

After your PC printer settings have been defined, you will not have to manually change printer settings when you change forms. Your printer becomes a virtual printer. Even if you have only one printer, ULTRA will think that you have several printers designated for specific items. You will no longer have to change printer settings, and the processes will work as they currently do.

For example, if you select a menu item that creates and prints labels, all you need to do is load the printer with the labels, and the ULTRA system will automatically know that you are printing labels, and use the label form type settings that you set up.

Printer settings can be set up for the following form types:

label
letter
landscape
portrait
receipt

            +--------------------------------------------------+

This chapter explains how to set up PC printer definitions.

142.1 How It Works

After PRINTER is selected from the menu, the ULTRA system checks your PC and creates an internal list of the printers that your PC has access to. A message is displayed if the system can not get your printer configuration or no printers are found.

If one or more printers are found, information about the first form type is displayed, and you are asked for the printer settings data.

Default information is displayed for each prompt. You can accept the default or enter other data.

After you enter information for each of the form types, the printer data is stored for future reference.

You can change any of the printer definitions that you have previously set up.
