Using the Advanced Telesales System

2.1 Overview

This chapter contains general instructions for using the Advanced Telesales System. It provides information on starting up and exiting from the Sales System and an example of the Master Menu.

Starting up the Sales System

In order to start up the Sales System, you must first sign on to the computer. (See appendix A for information on signing on.)

At the VAX prompt (the "$") you invoke the Sales System by entering SALES:


        $ SALES 

After a few seconds, you will see the SALES System start up screen.

Next, you will see the Master Menu.

The Master Menu displays the Sales System categories:

2.2 To Call a Series of Prospects.

The sales system allows you to call a series of sales prospects on a specific date. To see a list of sales prospects that are to be called, for example, on 12/12/91, choose the CALL item:

Next, you see the Customer Call Report for December 12, 1991. Included in the report is the name of the contact person, the organization name, phone number, type of information previously sent to the prospect, comments, etc:

To see the STATUS of the customer to be called, press the [RETURN] key. Next, you might see a screen similar to the following:

2.3 Looking up a Prospect

The Advanced Telesales System provides four ways you can look up a prospect: by name, phone number, customer id number, or organization.

Example:

Suppose you want to call a prospect but you do not know the correct spelling of an organization. However, you have the phone number. You can find out the correct organization name by choosing the PCALL (Phone Call) item:

Since you do not know the organization name, but have a phone number, press [RETURN].

You are next prompted for the Phone Number:

You will then see the information on the prospect.

However, you may not know the phone number. At the phone number prompt, you can press [RETURN]. You will be prompted for the contact person's name, which, hopefully you have.

You may have only a vague idea of the contact person's name, e.g., you know it is Alan Del___, but are not sure how to spell the last name.

Here, the Sales System is extremely generous! You can do a name search. At the Name prompt, just enter the partial name:

You will be given a choice of names. You recognize the first entry as the name you want. Enter the number, e.g., 1):
